Professor Amin Rostami to speak at ‘Screening, MedChem and ADMET Europe’ conference

Simcyp News RSS

Date: 20 Feb 2009

Professor Amin Rostami-Hodjegan, Director of Scientific Research and Development at Simcyp Limited, has been invited to present at the Screening, MedChem and ADMET Europe meeting. The conference is being held in Berlin, Germany, between 23rd and 25th February.

Professor Rostami will be discussing the issue of population variability, highlighting that many failures in the clinical stages of development relate to the effects of candidate drugs in certain sub-groups rather than an ‘average’ person. Professor Rostami will explain how the ‘bottom-up’ approach of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling and simulation incorporating population variability can be used identify  covariates which impact on ADME processes and optimise study design.

His presentation is entitled, ‘Virtual human populations and integrating knowledge of systems: a tale of `bottom-up´ vs `top-down´ recognition of covariates for ADME’ . It forms part of the ADMET programme on Tuesday 24th February.
