Publication: Review of modelling and simulation in drug development

Simcyp News RSS

Date: 24 Apr 2008

A review of the modelling and simulation tools used in drug discovery and development has been published in the journal Current Computer-Aided Drug Design. The article, entitled ‘Applications of computer-aided pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic methods from drug discovery through registration’, features the Simcyp Population-based ADME Simulator as part of an evaluation of the commonly-used technologies.

The review was written by Dong et al. at Amgen. It focuses on the widely used pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) software applications providing examples of how modelling and simulation can aid decision making in drug discovery and development. The authors recognise that modelling and simulation can support more efficient preclinical and clinical study design and interpretation, thereby optimising the path to delivery of new medicines to patients.

The paper appears in Current Computer-Aided Drug Design, 2008, 4:54-66. Please click here for a link to the abstract.
