Line of Management: Reports to Head of IT

Location: Sheffield, City Centre, Bramall Lane

Hours of Work: Mon – Fri 9.00am – 5.00pm (1hr Lunch time)

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days plus statutory bank holidays

Salary: subject to experience plus Employers Pension Contribution, Health Scheme & Government Childcare Voucher Scheme.


Company Overview:

Simcyp is a spin out company from the University of Sheffield. It is a fast-growing, research-based consultancy company that provides knowledge, algorithms, and database relevant to drug development (incorporated in its world known simcyp® Population-Based ADME Simulator) . The company focuses, in particular, on gathering information required for the modelling and simulation (M&S) of the time-course and fate of drugs (ADME) in patients using experimental data derived from isolated enzyme and cellular systems.


Job Description

Overview:

You will be a member of a small software development team reporting to the Head of IT. The role will involve the support and expansion of the current Network Infrastructure within Simcyp. The role not only covers the current systems but also there is an expectation that as the network grows so will your roles and responsibility. There is also a requirement to support internal users with hands-on IT support and external clients with basic customer support.  As a benefit the company offers a competitive salary plus benefits, training opportunities, and the opportunity to work in one of the fastest moving industries utilising cutting edge science.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Maintain internal servers and network infrastructure
  • Day to day monitoring and expansion of infrastructure
  • Maintenance of Microsoft Exchange and Sharepoint Servers
  • Involvement in maintenance of the corporate website
  • Responsible for ongoing security improvements on the network
  • Webinar, e-learning and new media support
  • IT Support for staff
  • Basic customer support


Skills Required:

Essential

  • Knowledge of MS Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Knowledge of TCP-IP and HTTP networking strategies
  • Able to operate within tight time scales/pressured environment
  • Dynamic and self motivated individual
  • Good communication skills for internal and external contacts
